Padmanabhan, a cardiologist, is assistant professor of medicine at UC San Francisco.
He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Washington University in St. Louis, and then earned his Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology at the University of Pennsylvania. He went on to earn his medical degree at Penn, then completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by a Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at UCSF.
Padmanabhan practices general cardiology, with specific interests in preventive cardiology, lamin A/C gene (LMNA)-associated cardiomyopathies, and right heart disease in athletes.
His research focuses on understanding the gene-regulatory and epigenetic pathways that govern cell-fate decisions during early cardiac development, and cell-state transitions in the pathophysiology of heart failure.
